Conservation in broad terms is concerned with stabilising deterioration or damage to objects, which may also involve cleaning treatments or repairs. A Conservator also monitors the environment in which items will be kept or displayed. They must select only techniques and materials which, to the best of current knowledge, will not endanger the integrity of the object and can most easily be reversed or removed.
